Since 2010, a distinguished international jury of experts has presented the ICMA Award annually. It is a global competition for corporate media, books, corporate design and magazines, providing an overview of contemporary graphic design; its primary aim is to promote the exchange of creative ideas at an international level and to identify trends.

“Aufgegessen!” won over the jury with its unconventional format and original concept, which powerfully highlights the everyday issue of food waste. Families document their relationship with food, and Dieter Bornemann translates this into striking, visually powerful images. Facts, personal insights and creative recipes come together to form a passionate plea for a more conscious and sustainable approach to food. A particular highlight are the photos of open fridges.

THE OPENING

The opening was organised jointly by Peter Lindhorst, director of the Freelens Gallery, long-time editor-in-chief of GEO magazine and author of the book Peter-Matthias Gaede, his wife and curator of the exhibition Henriette Väth-Hinz, and publisher Lois Lammerhuber.

THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition presents impressive portraits by photographer Volker Hinz († 2019) – from a very special perspective: the focus is not on the icons in front of the camera, but on the people behind it. Over decades, he met and photographed the most influential photographers in the history of photography. The long-time Stern photographer and portrait magician had them all in front of his lens – whether at official events or in the intimate setting of their homes: Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon, Peter Beard, Alfred Eisenstaedt, F.C. Gundlach, Annie Leibowitz, Peter Lindbergh, Lee Miller, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, Sebastião Salgado and many more.

The result is a unique treasure trove of photographic history that lay waiting to be discovered in Volker Hinz’s archive. A treasure trove amassed by the passionate portrait photographer over almost fifty years of work, presenting an incomparable who’s who of photography.

Munich, January 2026 – 80 Years of PHOTO PRESSE: Hall of Fame Honors Influential Figures in the Photography Industry

Germany’s most traditional photography trade magazine, PHOTO PRESSE, is celebrating its 80th anniversary. Since December 1945, “PP” has accompanied the development of photography – from the analog darkroom to the digital revolution and the ubiquitous image culture of today.

“PHOTO PRESSE has always been a medium about people, about attitudes, and about the question of what photography can achieve in its respective time – culturally, economically, and socially,” says Wolfgang Heinen, publisher of PHOTO PRESSE.

On the occasion of the anniversary, ten individuals were honored as part of the PHOTO PRESSE Hall of Fame for their outstanding commitment to attitude, innovation, and the cultural relevance of photography. The selection was deliberately subjective, based on objective criteria – with a focus on sustainable impact, entrepreneurial courage, creative excellence, and social engagement.

“With the Hall of Fame, we want to show that photography is much more than just a product or a trend,” explains Benjamin Lorenz, editor-in-chief of PHOTO PRESSE. “It exists where people take responsibility, dare to try new things, and have the courage to forge their own paths. That is exactly what we honor with these individuals.”

Festive Gala at the Seehaus in Munich

The Hall of Fame awards ceremony took place at the Seehaus in the Englischer Garten in Munich – in an elegant and festive setting with exclusive guests from industry, trade, media, and photography culture. The event provided space for personal encounters, retrospectives, and perspectives on the future of photography.

The evening was opened by Myriam Karsch, spokesperson for the management of the Five Monkeys Group. Wolfgang Heinen and Benjamin Lorenz hosted the awards ceremony, who presented the awards in a festive ceremony. “This anniversary celebration is a clear commitment to the future of photography – and to the people who make it possible,” said Wolfgang Heinen in conclusion.

‘Aufgegessen!’ stands for conscious enjoyment, appreciation of food and creative cuisine that combats waste – topics that are more relevant than ever.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards are considered one of the most prestigious international prizes for cookery, food and culture publications. Every year, they honour the best books in numerous categories – from traditional cookbooks and innovative concepts to topics such as sustainability and food culture.

In 2025, 848 books from over 180 countries competed in various categories. A place in the competition finals means that a book is among the best in its category worldwide and is recognised internationally by experts in the culinary industry.

The award ceremony took place from 27 to 30 November 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of the Saudi Feast Food Festival, an international event for cuisine, nutrition and food culture. Authors, publishers, chefs and experts from around the world came together to honour the outstanding works.

A large exhibition covering 400 square metres is dedicated to the history and present of the photobook, with an impressive display of all the award winners from 2017 to 2024. Around 500 award-winning photobooks from the past eight years are on display at the Städtische Galerie im Leeren Beutel in Regensburg.
 
The competition is reorganised every year. Anyone who was born or lives in Germany, Austria or Switzerland can participate. This applies to individuals as well as companies. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded in 12 categories by a jury that changes annually.
 
The award winners from 2017 to 2024 form the basis of the photobook award archive, which will be added to the Regensburg State Library following the anniversary exhibition. Many renowned photobook publishers and photographic artists are involved.
 
On Saturday, 22 November 2025, the Municipal Gallery will host not only the award ceremony for the 2025 German Photobook Prize, but also the birthday celebration for 50 years of the German Photobook Prize.
 
And we are joining in the celebrations by presenting our award-winning books from the last eight years!

On 30 July 2024 at three in the morning, eight internationally renowned photographers met with a team of fifteen experts from Vienna Airport. For twenty-four hours, they explored and captured the life and people of this technical marvel with their cameras. The images follow the rhythm of the airport every minute.”

Awarded on 25 June 2025 at the Danubium Tulln at the Goldener Hahn, which honours the most creative advertising campaigns in Lower Austria.

To mark the 70th anniversary of Vienna Airport, eight international photographers documented an entire day at Vienna Airport under the artistic direction of Lois Lammerhuber and with texts by Thomas Brezina. 24 hours full of emotion, technology and people who make flying possible.

The book was presented on 2 December 2024 in the State Hall of the National Library – exactly on the day on which the 30 millionth passenger was welcomed. thanks to everyone involved and to Vienna Airport for this special project!

The dream of flying is characterized by a pioneering spirit and the will to make the seemingly impossible possible. One of them was Jakob Degen, who constructed a flying machine with movable wings in 1807. During a demonstration in the Vienna Hofburg, he soared 17 meters up to the ceiling in front of an astonished audience. What this machine looked like can be seen here on the stage. Vienna Airport has agreed a book sponsorship with the Austrian National Library for this work. The certificate was presented during the book presentation: Author Thomas Brezina, publisher and photographer Lois Lammerhuber, Dr. Günther Ofner, CEO of FWAG, Dr. Johanna Rachinger, Director General of the Austrian National Library, and Mag. Julian Jäger, CEO of FWAG.
