Helmut Habersack, a renowned expert in hydraulic engineering and river research, appeared as a guest on the ORF talk show Stöckl Live on 16 July 2026.

In conversation with Barbara Stöckl, Habersack spoke about his fascinating research on rivers around the world, from New Zealand to Canada. He spoke of his experiences on the Waimakariri River and how they had shaped him. His expertise in flood protection and his involvement in UNESCO’s “World’s Large Rivers Initiative” were also discussed.

Habersack’s remarks on the state of Europe’s major rivers, such as the Rhine and the Danube, were particularly fascinating.
