Parlament Österreich

The number of all rooms in the Parliament is provisionally 922. What a house! After almost five years of construction, the renovation of the Austrian Parliament came to an end in 2023. The book visits each of these rooms to examine them for their visual and spiritual energy. It wants to take the viewer by the hand, lead them through the building, make them feel at home and familiar. Lammerhuber’s photography pays tribute to this extraordinary place like an art treasure.

PARLIAMENT AUSTRIA A building like a sculpture. A building that is our home. A building as democracy shaped in architecture. A memorial for peace. The original mother of the measurement of life in our country. Renovation means maintaining value. But renovation also means modernisation. It means redefinition. It means a caesura. It means pausing at a turning point in time. Like a general pause in the course of a piece of music. The ultimate symbol of our country becomes even more visible. Becomes a building like no other. Radically new. Representatively open to everyone. The ultimate agora for all Austrians. A meeting place. Identity-forming. This is where living together in community is decided. The number of rooms in the Parliament is currently 922. What a house! The book will visit each of these rooms to examine them for their visual and spiritual energy. This book wants to take the viewer by the hand, lead them through the house and make them feel at home, familiar. This book will open the house. To “make the visible visible” through light, perspective, contrast and mathematical-geometric language of form. And to make discoveries where seemingly everything is already known. This book wants to make its visual contribution to helping all Austrians to make their parliament their parliament.

Reviews

Der Standard open_in_new

27 January 2024: "Lois Lammerhuber brilliantly stages the visual and spiritual energy fields of the Parliament, the central star on the Ring."

DGPh – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie open_in_new

20 Dezember 2023: "The architectural work of art with more than 922 rooms is congenially presented by the color photographs of Lois Lammerhuber, who takes the reader on a virtual tour of the parliament building from floor to floor.....A recommendable book for architecture enthusiasts and a document of the most diverse stagings of architecture. A successful publication that does artistic justice to the group of works shown with a beautifully designed, functional book design."
