Christian Thielemann

Christian Thielemann was General Music Director in Nuremberg, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra before joining the Staatskapelle Dresden in 2012 as principal conductor. One year later he took over the artistic direction of the Salzburg Easter Festival. He works closely with the Bayreuther Festspiele, which appointed him music director in 2015, as well as with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras.

As a guest conductor he has performed in Amsterdam and London as well as in the USA, Israel, Japan and China. He is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in London and holds honorary doctorates from the Franz Liszt College of Music in Weimar and the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). Since 2016 he has been Carl Maria von Weber Visiting Professor of Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London.
