Book presentation right next to Joseph Beuys’ studio

Museum director Harald Kunde opened the event with a warm welcome. Willy Roeth and Helga Diekhoefer from the Friends of Museum-Kurhaus and Koekkoek-House Kleve e.V. moderated the program. Photographer Gerd Ludwig and author Frank Mehring discussed the origins of the project and the book, which began with a visit by Joseph Beuys, Gerd Ludwig, and ZEIT journalist Peter Sager to Kleve in 1978, and found a new form of expression during the Corona pandemic through a landscape installation of large-format photographs. The project continues with the publication of a photo and text volume by Edition Lammerhuber. This is the first book to focus on the Lower Rhine landscape and Beuys’ (supposed) birthplace at the center of the Beuysian cosmos.

The audience responded with plentiful applause and seized the rare opportunity to have their copies of “BEUYS LAND” signed by Ludwig and Mehring.
