Rolf-Dieter Heuer

Rolf-Dieter Heuer was born in Boll, Germany, in 1948. He studied physics in Stuttgart and Heidelberg. He first worked with the JADE collaboration at the PETRA, the Positron-Electron Tandem Ring Accelerator of the German Electron Synchroton, then with the OPAL experiment at the CERN. He has been director general of the CERN since 2009.
