Repertory is a collection of works or existing productions which are part of the programme of a (music) theatre and can be fallen back on at any time. Depending on the policy of the management and the technical and artistic capabilities of the theatre a repertory theatre offers a succession and combination of different productions within a season without having to release them every time as new premi\u00e8res. This results in a mixture of older and newer productions which are kept at the best possible level thanks to regular rehearsals.<\/p>\n
The Wiener Staatsoper cultivates the largest repertory in the world: Every year, the programme includes some 60 operas and ballets. It is the only opera house which is able to offer such exemplary quality and diverse variety of works and styles: from baroque opera to contemporary music theatre, from Wagner to Verdi, from Mozart to Strauss, from classical productions to progressive perspectives.
