The book Das Franz Ferdinand Prinzip<\/em> is an extraordinary contribution to the commemorative year 100 years of the First World War. It tells the story of the heir to the throne Franz Ferdinand and his passion for hunting, of the mythological legend of the White Chamois and the fatal shots fired in the Bl\u00fchnbach Valley in Salzburg that conjured up the First World War. The Archduke’s shooting list of 274 889 pieces of game also refers to the trophy, a White Chamois, which he shot in 1913. The rare white chamois was considered a mythological taboo figure in popular belief and was protected by mountain spirits. The hunter who tries to hunt the chamois is cursed by higher forces and dies within one year. Thus the parallels between legend and history are condensed into the legend of the origin of the Great War.
